All About Pure CBD
Cannabidiol (CBD) is just one cannabinoid out of the 100-plus cannabinoids found in cannabis plants. It’s one of the most talked-about cannabinoids because of the reported effects it can have on people’s health. Most of the time people do not consume Pure CBD because CBD products contain lots of different cannabinoids. This blog will explain what pure CBD is and why most people tend to use products with lots of different cannabinoids instead.
What is Pure CBD?
The purest form of CBD is CBD isolate. This is where all the other cannabinoids are removed, leaving only CBD. The plant has to go through many rounds of extraction to achieve this level of purity.
In Broad Spectrum products you will find all the cannabinoids except for THC. In Full Spectrum products all the cannabinoids are present including THC. They contain all the flavonoids and terpenes that you would expect to find.
How do you Take Pure CBD?
Pure CBD normally comes in a crystallised powder form. It is usually very highly concentrated so you only need small amounts. People mix it with their food, dissolve it in liquid or use it to vape with.
Full and Broad Spectrum CBD products come in almost every form. You can take them as an oil, in capsules, gummies and lotions. You can even buy CBD infused coffee and wine! Definitely buy these products with care; the other substances they contain may counteract the effect of the CBD and render them useless. We offer most of our products in the form of oil because we believe it is the most effective way for your body to absorb everything that it needs.
What are the Advantages of Pure CBD?
Pure CBD contains no THC, which is the cannabinoid that gets you high. It is illegal in the UK if present in a percentage above 0.2%. Some people might find it an advantage that Pure CBD contains no THC, especially if they have to get drug tested for work or competitive purposes. However, Pure CBD is not the only way to overcome this problem as Broad Spectrum products contain no THC.
Lots of studies have taken place to try and understand the effect that CBD has on the body. CBD has been approved for medical use in the case of reducing seizures for people with epilepsy. It hasn’t yet been approved to treat any other illnesses but research is taking place to understand all the other potential benefits of CBD. People have reported improved sleep, reduced anxiety and even a reduction in pain when taking CBD products. We’ve written some in-depth blog posts about CBD’s impact on conditions such as cancer, fibromyalgia and acne.
What are the Disadvantages of Pure CBD?
When you buy pure CBD you don’t get to experience the Entourage Effect. The Entourage Effect is where all the cannabinoids in a CBD product work together to give you the best effect. These include the flavonoids and terpenes that you find in a high quality CBD oil.
Research has been carried out to assess the difference between using CBD isolate alone and using a spectrum CBD product. In 2015, a study on mice found that CBD isolate offered fewer benefits than a spectrum product.
Pure CBD is hard to find as not many companies sell it. This is because of the costs associated with making it and the difficulty of removing all other cannabinoids. At Pure Organic CBD we don’t sell a pure CBD product because we believe in the importance of the Entourage Effect.
Why do we Call our CBD ‘Pure’?
We call our products ‘pure’ to reflect the fact that they do not contain any toxins or pesticides. They’re not tested on animals and the crops are not genetically modified. All of our products contain a range of cannabinoids to encourage the Entourage Effect. This is because we believe that CBD works best in collaboration with other cannabinoids. Our products are grown in Certified Organic conditions and we believe they are some of the highest quality available on the market.
Summarising Pure CBD
Pure CBD contains no additional cannabinoids apart from CBD. It won’t get you ‘high’ and will likely give you a different effect to a full or broad spectrum product. At Pure Organic CBD we only sell full or broad spectrum products because we believe in the power of the entourage effect. Therefore, the use of the word ‘pure’ in our name reflects the natural and high quality nature of our product. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch and we can answer all of your queries about cannabinoids and which product is right for you!
