A Guide to Taking CBD Oil
If you are still deciding if CBD oil is right for you or, if you are ready to start your journey with CBD, you are in the right place. In this How to Use CBD guide, we will go over the basics on how to get you started the right way. We will try and answer the most common questions people will have about CBD. We will also teach you the difference between the most popular products on the market.
HOW MUCH CBD OIL SHOULD I TAKE?
The number of drops of CBD Oil you should take depends upon the strength of CBD you buy and on your own personal needs. Take our CBD strength quiz to find out what strength CBD is best for you!
On each product you’ll find the PureSpectrum calculator showing you the mg per drop. We estimate that a bottle of CBD should last you around 4 weeks. If you find that you are getting through a bottle quickly it may be more cost effective to buy a higher strength product. We recommend starting with two to three drops.
The best way to take CBD Oil is in these easy steps!
Ensure the bottle is closed and shake it for 10 seconds. It is a good idea to mix the CBD oil throughly with the carrier oil to get the most consistent results.
Remove the top and squeeze the dropper to load the tube with CBD. You do not need to fill the tube to the top as you will only be taking 3 to 5 drops. Use your CBD oil sparingly.
Place the drops of CBD Oil under your tongue
Hold them under your tongue for 1-2 minutes
Move the CBD Oil around your mouth and swallow
This is much more effective than simply swallowing the CBD Oil because it allows it to be absorbed into the bloodstream. It’s best to take CBD just after a meal as it is fat-soluble. This means that it is broken down by fats into smaller molecules so the body can absorb it more effectively,You can even add CBD directly to your food.
Will CBD interfere with my Medication?
CBD is broken down in the liver, in the same way as many other medications. This means that it can potentially prevent other medications working as would be expected. If you are taking any medication, including hormonal contraception, then it’s important to talk to your doctor. You can read more about this in our blog post on CBD and Drug Interaction.
CBD is a completely natural product and this means it has very few side effects. Some people report a change in appetite, a dry mouth or mild diarrhoea for two or three days when they start taking CBD. CBD won’t leave you feeling groggy the next morning and doesn’t impair your ability to drive.
CBD Spectrum Overview
Here are the 3 types of CBD oils we offer. For most people, Full Spectrum CBD Oil works fine for their needs. Full Spectrum CBD has a small amount of THC, but not enough to make you feel high in any way. If you prefer to use a product with zero THC, our Broad Spectrum CBD is the perfect choice. All of our pet CBD contains zero THC.
Getting the best results from CBD oil comes down to understanding bio-availability. Bio-Availability is the percentage of CBD compound that is actually absorbed into your bloodstream. This is very important as the more you actually absorb into the bloodstream the more potent the effect.
Taking and holding the CBD under the tongue allows the CBD to absorb directly into the bloodstream. If you take CBD and swallow it immediately, most of it will get broken down by the enzymes in your liver before reaching your bloodstream.
Using a dropper under the tongue doubles the bio-availability and therefore doubles the effect. This is because it is a quicker route into the bloodstream as it bypasses the digestive system and which would otherwise breakdown the oil.
That is why we recommend holding the oil under the tongue for 1 to 2 minutes. This allows the body to absorb the oils active ingredients directly into the blood stream.
– the longer you hold the oil in your mouth before swallowing, the more will enter your bloodstream.
Just like many medications, vitamins and supplements, we recommend taking the oil with or after a meal as food increases bio-availability. CBD is a fat-soluble compound meaning that it dissolves in fats and fatty oils, this breaks down into smaller molecules that are more easily absorbed by the body.
One way to increase bio-availability even further is to take it with a high-fat snack or meal such as peanut butter, avocados, nuts, olive oil, cheese, eggs, fatty fish, whole milk or dark chicken.
