Lee Sharpe as a Director at Pure Organic CBD
Pure Organic CBD is proud to announce a partnership with former England footballer Lee Sharpe. Lee has become a Director of our company and will be working closely with our team. He is a strong advocate for CBD Oil and is passionate about our products.
Why Did Lee Sharpe Become a Director of a CBD Company?
Our partnership with Lee Sharpe originated from his search for a trustworthy CBD product to help him further his professional golfing career. CBD oil for golf has been on trend with more and more players coming out and saying it really does make a difference in their game. The rules for CBD use in professional golf have been relaxed with the PGA Tour announcing that CBD use will not be a disqualification. The PGA has mentioned that although CBD is an extract of the cannabis plant, the only cannabinoid that is cleared for use is CBD and not THC.
Given the rules set by the governing bodies, Lee’s standards are well beyond what is generally on sale in the CBD marketplace today. He need to make sure his guidelines met the standards of professional golf. They also had to align with his personal choice to only use products certified organic. This criteria led him to find Pure Organic Golf, a sister company of Pure Organic CBD.
Working Together to Solve Problems
” I love everything our company stands for. They’ve had the right mindset about CBD oil and what it means to people looking for answers to their own personal struggles”. Says Lee.
Together, we began working with Lee to create a golf product that was perfect for every golfer. A close relationship was formed through daily testing and input from both sides; both working together to craft a differentiator in the CBD sports space. Lee became a partner and worked extensively on product development bringing his extensive golf knowledge into play.Â
There were 3 main factors that needed to be met with the Golf CBD product development.
- The product needs to be easy to take. Tinctures on a golf course do not work very well. Just watch this video of Phil Mickelson taking CBD at the 2019 Masters.
- The CBD needs to be verifiably THC Free and 3rd Party Lab Tested to give competitive professionals peace of mind.
- The product needs to create noticeable benefits for the user. No placebo effects, only verified results that are based on data and not speculation.
The product development is still in the testing phase but moving along quickly with a look to launch by the end of summer 2021.
Beyond Golf – Lee Wanted to Help People Discover the Best Version of Themselves
Through the process of developing a golf product, Lee learned about CBD oil’s abilities to help people dealing with mental issues like depression, anxiety, insomnia along with physical issues like pain. He realised that CBD could help people in general improve their everyday lives and well being. One benefit that particularly interested him is CBD may have an ability to break the cycle of anxiety and depression. Both conditions that often times live silently inside a persons mind and heart.
We here love Lee’s empathy and enthusiasm for helping people overcome difficult things in life. Many deep conversations led us to find a synergy working together again, but with our core brand, Pure Organic CBD. We found a mutual desire to help people battling depression, namely in men. The UK’s current problem with suicide rate in young men is alarming and worth mentioning.
Lee’s career in football has given him a unique perspective on how men handle rejection and career anxiety at the highest of levels. What we found interesting is how committed Lee is to addressing these types of issues in the UK.
As a company that has always stood for personal well being, Pure Organic CBD formally asked Lee Sharpe to come on as a director with the aim of raising awareness for mental health issues affecting men in the UK. Working together, we feel that we can make a difference in how people address mental health issues. Personally for this author, I’ve had my own battles with anxiety, CBD oil has allowed me to be calm and do the work to overcome it. There is a strong desire in all of us here to help people who need it.
Lee Sharpe – A Unique Perspective
Lee Sharpe is best known as one of the talented footballers of the 1990s. Playing for Manchester United in 1988 he helped the team achieve three Premier League titles, a Euro Cup title and a European Cup Winners Cup among other accolades. He played for England a number of times between 1991 and 1993. He then moved to Leeds United in 1996 as a record signing. After appearing on Celebrity Love Island and Dancing on Ice, Lee now comments on football for Sky Sports.
Lee Sharpe has experienced his own struggles with mental health and has witnessed the struggles of those around him. During his appearance on the TV Programme Harry’s Heroes the difficulties some of his teammates had faced with mental health was made public. Paul Merson and Lee Hendrie bravely opened up about the difficulties they faced after leaving football. This reinforced his realisation that many people in the UK silently struggle with mental health problems and that this can affect people from different backgrounds.Â
The mental health of footballers is a subject that has not been widely discussed. Potentially because of their high salaries and envy of their seemingly perfect lifestyle many people assume that they have everything they could possibly want. However, footballers at either end of their professional career face intense pressure to make the cut.Â
What Kind of Impact Does Pressure Have on People?
For young footballers that don’t get selected for the professional game the options are limited. After training in an academy from primary school age, young footballers focus on their sports career throughout their teens often sacrificing their academic and social life to train and play matches. If they are not deemed to be good enough, they can lose everything overnight. Clubs can end their careers and leave them left with nothing to show for all their years of hard work. They can struggle to find other employment as their grades have fallen behind their peers. They may have sacrificed going to college or studying for A Levels to focus on football.
What the Data says
The impact of this high stakes environment on young footballers is clear. In a survey by ITV News, 88% of players they spoke to felt anxious or depressed after they had been released with 72% saying that they didn’t feel like they had been given enough support by the club. Unfortunately this situation is not uncommon. 98% of players who become full-time scholars aged 16 will be released or have dropped out of football by the age of 21. Therefore, a significant number of young people are at risk. Some clubs are taking measures to try and address this problem and are increasing the support they provide. However, vulnerable young people are still at risk.
Even if players do make the professional teams, their careers are hanging on a knife edge. Getting injured can end a player’s career before they’ve even begun. Players that get injured later in their career will have had a chance to make a name for themselves and earn enough to get by, but those who get injured early on have little opportunity to continue their career. This leaves players in a similar situation to those younger ones who have been let go.
Lee’s Personal Experience Dealing with Pressure
This is a type of pressure Lee Sharpe knows only too well. When he debuted for Manchester United he was only 17 years old. At this age most boys are just thinking of exams, girls and growing up but Sharpe had the pressure of tens of thousands of fans relying on him to deliver the results they wanted. In some ways he was one of the lucky ones in that all his time training had paid off and that he had been selected. However, Sharpe struggled with injury and illness, especially when he had meningitis in 1992. By the time he had recovered his position had been allocated to another player.
Naturally footballers and athletes are not the only people in the UK struggling with their mental health. The Coronavirus pandemic has exposed some of the mental health problems that people in the UK are struggling with. A recent ONS report has found that 21% of UK adults have experienced depression in 2021.
More People are Exploring CBD Oil’s Abilities
Whilst CBD cannot solve all of these problems, it has taken a bit of the spotlight in the scientific world. Studies by universities around the world are producing a consensus that CBD may be able to positively impact people suffering from mental disorders .
Lee has looked at a number of ways of recovering from the toll of a professional sports career. He has always wanted to take a natural approach, steering clear of medications with the potential for addiction. Lee has found that CBD oil is a great natural way to stay at his top physical and mental form. He regularly practices yoga and meditation to help calm his mind and he finds that CBD works in tandem with these to get the best results.
What the Future Holds For Pure Organic CBD
Working with a CBD oil brand that sells organic CBD products is very important to Lee. When he started taking CBD he did extensive research and realised that buying organic CBD is crucial to getting high quality CBD products. Our products are Bio Suisse certified, reflecting the level of dedication and care put into growing our organic CBD oil.
At every step, our farmers monitor and record each plant’s health. Our approach has always been seed to bottle to customer. Even our sunflower carrier oil in our products is also organic and sourced from the same farm. To extract our CBD products we use CO2 extraction making sure that no additional chemicals or alcohol are present. Therefore, our products are free from pesticides and toxins as you can see in our detailed lab reports.
This partnership promises to be an exciting one! We look forward to working with Lee Sharpe to spread our passion for CBD and advocating for mental health awareness in the UK.
